Shoot & Share with Greg Whitaker
You don’t have to be a professional photographer with a room full of expensive equipment to take great photos of your turned work; you just need to understand a few of the basics. In the first part of his program, Greg will talk about cameras, lighting, composition and editing, all on a budget.
During the second part of the program, Greg will photograph YOUR work. This is your time to shine while you inspire the rest of us to try something new. Bring in one or two pieces and tell us what made it a unique project–it might have been the wood, the finish or the new turning technique you tried. After you show your work, Greg will photograph it using the methods he described earlier. You’ll be able to download your photos later from a dropbox at no charge.
Open Shop
After the program, we’re offering our first Open Shop session to increase the learning value of our programs. The idea is that after a turning demo, you will be able to walk over to a club lathe and try your hand at turning the demo project or work on a new skill. (You learn what you turn!) Not to mention that we have excellent club equipment and tools that should be used by more members more frequently.
So plan to stay after the program on April 13th and take advantage of this opportunity. Since we’re not having a turning demo, bring a project, BYOC (bring your own chuck) and turn for an hour or two with Bonnie and the gang.
