Demonstration – Take a
Fresh Look at the Versatile Scraper
Demo
Romaine
Meller will demonstrate how to use scrapers in box making. He will also talk
about the effectiveness of scraping various woods such as hard maple and
popple*. Following Romaine, John Skarja will demonstrate bowl scrapers and
discuss their usefulness in refining the outside and inside of
bowls. Important tips on sharpening scrapers will also be
shared. Bring your questions.

Demo and Workshops
Thanks
for giving us all the positive feedback about inviting Rudy to our club. In
response, we’ve booked him for the weekend of October 11-13th, during which he
will show us how to make the top two projects that registrants request. Early
votes are high for Turning Goblets, End-Grain Vases and Winged Bowls. Both
workshops and demo day will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a short break for
lunch. Workshop fee – $125 Demo Day fee – $40

Members Until August 20th
We’re
changing up the way we’re doing registration for these events so we can have a
solid headcount by September 1st. LSW members will have the first opportunity
to fill Rudy’s workshops. On August 21st, we’ll open registration to the public
and nearby AAW members–wouldn’t it be great to fill a third workshop with
fellow woodturners from other clubs?
How to Register
Please
send your total payment to arrive no later than August 20th. We’re accepting
checks and PayPal. With your payment, please include a note with the name of
each registrant, their 1st and 2nd choice workshop dates and a contact phone
number. We’ll make every effort to register you on the workshop date you
prefer, but if it’s filled, will register you for your 2nd choice.
