MEETING DETAILS
Date WEDNESDAY, July 9, 2025
Time STARTS AT 6 P.M. – ??? (usually done before 9).

Location Jon Stephenson’s Shop, 9 Kilner Bay Drive, Superior, WI

AGENDA
We are in our Summer Schedule July and August which means we will meet on the 2nd Wednesday at 6 p.m. on those months. We do this during the summer to help keep your weekends free for other summer activities. We will be back to our regular 9 a.m. Saturday schedule beginning in September.

6:00 p.m. CALL TO ORDER

WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS – Susan Van Loon Runnoe
SHOW & TELL – Bring in what you’ve been turning, and as usual, you can ask for critiques of your work, or you can simply show what you have been making. We can discuss turning ‘challenges’, talk about best practices, and chat about perplexing pieces of wood you would like suggestions on how to turn or what to turn it into. We would like to have members show one of their turnings and once everyone has a chance, additional items can be shown if time permits.

SAFETY MINUTE – Open Discussion – Best practices, what to do and what not to do in the shop.

RAFFLE: An ongoing item on our agenda is our Raffle. If you have any items to donate for the raffle, whether it’s a woodturning book, a piece of wood, a pen or bowl blank, a tool you don’t use, or maybe a turning you have done, we would sincerely appreciate the donation. Depending upon the quantity of donations received your item may be saved for a future month’s raffle.

PROGRAM

Sent by Program Director John Skarja:
Richard Raffan Scoop

“From Skott Nielsen:

Duration of my demo 1 1/2 hour.

I will be turning a scoop as designed and developed by Richard Raffan. Everyone wants one when they see one. I was fortunate to learn it from him personally. It features end grain hollowing and spindle turning. It is a deceptively challenging project to get right.
