OLD BUSINESS:
· Mentoring: Whether you are interested in finding a mentor to help you with a particular woodturning skill, or if you are experienced and wouldn’t mind sharing your skills with others, we want to know. We are trying to match individuals to expand our talents!
· Last call to collect the Walnut wood still available outside of John Nephew’s building in Proctor.
· Superior Curling Club Wooden Rock Trophies – first team project day after today’s meeting.
· Demonstration and workshop in June – how many are interested?
NEW BUSINESS:
· Mentoring/ Open Turning-Dates to be announced. Come down and join us for turning.
SHOW & TELL – As always, we love to see what you’ve been turning. This month’s theme is the upcoming holidays. Do you have a specialty ornament you’ve turned? Have you made someone a wood-turned gift for Christmas? Have you made candlesticks, a chess set, a Nutcracker, or did you get inspired to turn a gnome after last month’s demonstration? Bring in your turning and show what you have been up to! You can ask for critiques of your work, or you can simply show your turnings. We can discuss turning ‘challenges’, talk about best practices, and chat about perplexing pieces of wood you would like suggestions on how to turn or what to turn it into. We would like to have members show one of their turnings and once everyone has a chance, if time permits additional items can be shown.
SAFETY MINUTE – Open Discussion – Best practices, what to do and what not to do.
RAFFLE: This month in celebration of our new space we are forgoing our regular raffle, and will be having door prizes and giving away wood, tools, and other exciting stuff. This is something you are not going to want to miss!

Membership – IMPORTANT:
September began our new fiscal year, and if you have not yet completed a new membership form or submitted your 2025-2026 dues payment, please get these in as soon as possible. Membership dues remain at $60/year. The money raised by dues helps us maintain our equipment, purchase supplies, and prepare for rent and moving costs when we move to our new shop.
Our club offers many opportunities to learn, including demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and formal and informal training. We provide a safe environment to learn proper safety techniques. We form a great community, and it’s an awesome place to connect with others who share an interest in woodturning. As you all know, woodturning is a great hobby, whether your interest is in turning into practical pieces, or if you lean towards creating items with a more artistic flair.
New members are always welcome. Help support your club by bringing a friend who would be interested in learning, sharing knowledge, teaching, or someone who just appreciates great art.
