From Log to Bowl – A Step-by-Step Guide Through Turning a Bowl
Wood turners make dozens of decisions in the process of creating a turned piece. Newer turners may not know the questions to ask and more experienced turners can always learn something new. At our next meeting, Gene Rosburg will walk us through every step in turning a bowl, stop at every decision point and offer recommendations for techniques, safety, turning tools and grinds and any special tools.

  1. Wood orientation – deep bowl vs. pretty bowl?
  2. Rough turning outside of bowl
  3. Cutting a tenon – size vs. safety
  4. Rough turning inside of bowl
  5. Drying bowl blanks – fast and slow methods
  6. Finish-turning dry bowl blanks
  7. Cutting off the tenon safely
  8. Designs and finishes

March Sharing Session – Saturday, March 16, Time:  9 a.m.
This is your opportunity to be mentored by our experienced turners. Bring your project and your questions!
