Show & Tell

Demonstration by Greg Whitaker

Member Greg Whitaker will demonstrate his methods for multi-axis turning and give a detailed introduction to spindle multi-axis turning (see the attached flyer). His goal is to provide a sound foundation of the concepts and terminology so you can do multi-axis turning with a much higher level of understanding. A handout will be provided along with an internet link to his presentation.

Note: The Fire Marshall is reviewing the shop at H&H for safety. Until H&H completes discussions with them, we cannot do any turning in the shop.

Looking forward to our first demo of this new season. See you there!

Bonnie McDermid

LSW Secretary

Friendly reminder about our Covid safety precautions

You must be fully vaccinated to attend, wear a mask and practice social distancing as best as you can. Thank you.

LSW MEETING NOTES FROM SEPTEMBER, 2021

Thanks for a great turnout for our first meeting and for the excellent planning session. Below are brief notes from the meeting.

Officers and Roles Confirmed

Paul Howard will continue in his role as Treasurer.

John Skarja will continue in his role as Program Director and work with his committee to plan and execute programs.

Bonnie McDermid will continue in her role as club Secretary until another member volunteers.

Robb Glibbery will continue contributing his ideas and teaching skills as part of the Program Committee and at Sharing Sessions.

Paul Weisinger volunteered to help Tom Lohman with the club website.

LSW President Position Open

As an alternative to having one person in this position, the group favorably responded to the presidency becoming a shared position. Six members volunteered to move that idea forward as follows:

1. Additional volunteers are very welcome. Please contact Bonnie to add your name to the list.

2. The group will convene a Zoom meeting soon to discuss the roles of the president and then divide the tasks among the volunteers.

3. At the December meeting, this group will report their decisions/ideas.

4. Term limits, a revolving succession plan or some other mechanism will be recommended to give many members an opportunity to contribute their ideas and skills to the club.

LSW Needs New Location

We were informed by Paul Howard that the H&H Building is for sale, so we need to get busy looking for affordable space. Several members have put out the word to their local networks for space as well as grant-writing help. We need two volunteers to lead the charge on this project right away and members are encouraged to share their contacts and findings with them. Please contact Bonnie to volunteer.
