We’re kicking off our fall season with Tom Lohman’s segmented turning demo and
workshop. Thank you, Tom, for sharing your time and talents with our club in
this way. Those of you who aren’t familiar with his work, Tom is nationally
recognized as an expert on segmented turning and his work has been selected for
AAW’s Turning of the Week twice so far this year.
If you, too, want to share your expertise with club members in a demo and/or workshop, please contact John Skarja at 218-464-8129 to schedule your event.

Demo description: Tom will
show how to design a segmented bowl on paper; no software needed. We will go
over the math–no worries, we’ll use easy formulas. Then we will go from design
to build. Tom will highlight some key points of the build process to ensure you
end up with a successful project. In addition to the traditional build, Tom will
demonstrate how to build a vessel using a gluing jig to make vessels with 48 to
180 segments per row (or more).

Both of Rudy’s workshops are fully booked and we have a good start
on filling his Demo Day. Do mark your calendars for Saturday, October 12th when
Rudy will provide an entire day’s training on Turning Goblets
and End-Grain Vases.
