OLD BUSINESS:
· Mentoring: Whether you are interested in finding a mentor to help you with a particular woodturning skill, or if you are experienced and wouldn’t mind sharing your skills with others, we want to know. We are trying to match individuals to expand our talents!
· Kerry Sopoli: Bowling Pin Challenge (due next month at a special show and tell!)

NEW BUSINESS:
· September Member Meeting, back to our regular Saturday AM schedule. Some things to expect along with the regular events (raffle, sharing session, safety minute, and demonstration), 2026-2027 Membership forms, dues, BBQ, Tool / Wood Swap! Susan will discuss some of the days events!
SHOW & TELL – This month’s theme we talk about color and spindle turning. Do you color your turnings with paint, ink, dye, stains? Have you done any spindle work? Stools, chairs, balusters, maybe some unique tool handles? OR if you have anything else you have turned that you would like to show the we would love to see what you’ve been turning, so bring in your turnings and show what you have been up to. When you show your pieces you can ask for critiques of your work, or you can simply show your turnings. We can discuss turning ‘challenges’, talk about best practices, and chat about perplexing pieces of wood you would like suggestions on how to turn or what to turn it into. We would like to have members show one of their turnings and once everyone has a chance, if time permits additional items can be shown.
SAFETY MINUTE – Open Discussion – Best practices, what to do and what not to do.
RAFFLE: If you have an item to donate for the raffle, whether it’s a woodturning book, a piece of wood, a pen or bowl blank, a tool you don’t use, or maybe a turning you have done, we would sincerely appreciate the donation. Depending upon the quantity of donations received your item may be saved for a future month’s raffle.

Romaine Meller will demonstrate a method of painting his turned objects by applying paint with the lathe spinning. See the attached photos for some of the possibilities.
After Romaine’s demo, John Skarja will talk about simple spindle turning and demonstrate turning a dibbler – these are the garden tools our club has been selling for the past number of years which has brought in quite a bit of money! We will set up some of the lathes so after the demo, anyone interested in spindle-turning will get a chance to turn a dibbler or two! Blanks will be provided. Club turning tools will be available or bring your own if you prefer.
